Dublin Fringe: Aoife Sweeney O'Connor on mammies, queer joy and Wee Daniel

Aoife Sweeney O'Connor is putting Donegal on the map this month at the Dublin Fringe Festival with their new show, An Evening with Wee Daniel.

No prizes for guessing which Daniel they have in mind. It’s an exciting new solo show in which Aoife plays both theirself and Daniel in a rapturous love letter to the rural, queer, non-binary experience and to mammies, in homage to one of Donegal’s most famous sons, singer Daniel O'Donnell.

Aoife Sweeney O’Connor talked to Sean Rocks for RTÉ Arena - listen above.

An Evening with Wee Daniel is at Bewley's Cafe Theatre from September 18-21 2024, as part of this year's Dublin Fringe Festival - find out more here, and listen to more from RTÉ Arena here.
