From photographing skateboarders on the streets of Dublin to shooting Hollywood's biggest names, Rich Gilligan has always been drawn to themes of belonging, identity, and coming of age.
His latest exhibition, The First Draft, marks a return to those themes, bringing his journey full circle as he showcases new work at the Draíocht arts centre in Dublin. He talks to RTÉ Arena above.
The show blends still and moving images in what Gilligan calls "expanded photography."

It’s an evolution of a career that has taken him from underground skate culture to the streets of New York to intimate portraits of figures like Cillian Murphy, Saoirse Ronan and Barry Keoghan.
The First Draft by Rich Gilligan is at Draíocht, Blanchardstown until May 3rd 2025 - find out more here.
