Global interest in Irish-based jobs is continuing to increase with searches from overseas amounting to 12.3% of all searches for roles in Ireland, according to new research from hiring platform Indeed.
The figures show that job seekers in the US accounted for the biggest increase in overseas interest in Irish jobs with a share of 9.5% of total searches representing a 2.8 percentage point increase compared to 2024.
According to the research, from January to April of this year jobseekers in the UK accounted for the biggest share of overseas searches at 22.3% followed by those in the US, India, Spain and France.
Italy and Germany also featured in the top 10 countries for overseas searches.
The data shows food, admin and sales were the top three job categories searched by overseas jobseekers from January to April of this year.
Other job categories in the top 10 include driving & transport, sanitation, customer service and warehouse oriented roles.
The job categories with the highest increase in overseas interest since 2024 are retail, management and sales.
"This increase in global interest aligns with recent Government data that shows immigration levels to Ireland have risen, with 17% more employment permits issued by the Government in 2024 to help attract overseas workers to fill labour shortages in sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, tech and hospitality," said Jack Kennedy, senior economist at Indeed.
"Our research shows that while worldwide interest in the Irish labour market continues to grow, the appetite for foreign jobs by Irish residents is declining, indicating a strong labour market in the country," he said.
"This is backed up by the continued decline in unemployment rates visible in recent CSO data," Mr Kennedy said.
Indeed's analysis examined searches for roles in Ireland and clicks on job postings in the country made by job seekers whose IP addresses were not located in Ireland.
The figures are taken from the first four months of this year and compared to the same period last year.
