Casandra Alexander claimed her maiden Ladies European Tour (LET) with victory at the Czech Ladies Open, where Lauren Walsh finished best of the Irish, eight shots adrift of the South African.

FINAL LEADERBOARD

Walsh carded her highest round of the tournament with a level-par 72 to finish on nine-under par in a tie for 31st place.

Sara Byrne was a further shot adrift - tied 40th - after a 68 that included five birdies and a bogey to move up the standings, with Olivia Mehaffey, tied 65th, finishing on three-under after a final round 73.

It was, however, Alexander's day, shooting a course record 62 at Royal Beroun that included chipping in for an eagle at the last to finish on 19-under par and two clear of Luna Sobron Galmes and England’s Esme Hamilton

On a chaotic final day in the Czech Republic, Alexander, six back before the start of play, went bogey-free carding six birdies and two magnificent eagles.

"It’s very special," Alexander said. "It was a great round today and I’m very happy. I think you can see what it means. It’s been years of hard work. The last two weeks have been a bit of a struggle so it’s nice to know my patience paid off."
