The Northampton Saint would have been seen as a Lions outsider ahead of the 2024/25 season, but performances for club and country made him impossible to ignore for Andy Farrell.
A Premiership winner with the Saints in 2024, he was crucial to their run to the Investec Champions Cup final in 2025, scoring 81 points up to and including the final.
Smith started the 2025 Six Nations as back-up out-half to Marcus Smith with England, but was promoted to first-choice 10 after the opening round, starting the next four games.
Will be following in the footsteps of his grandfather, Tom Elliot, a Scotland international who played for the Lions on the 1955 tour of South Africa.
