Watch: Swapping fast fashion for sustainable alternatives

A social enterprise in Dublin city centre is providing a way for people to update their wardrobes in a cost-effective and sustainable way - swapping with others instead of turning to fast fashion.

Change Clothes on Thomas Street, is a community-based clothing re-use hub determined to help people at any stage in their sustainable fashion journey.

It offers workshops teaching people to sew and mend their clothing, and they upcycle end-of-life textiles into new products.

A permanent swap shop is in place where customers can bring in their unwanted items and swap them out for clothes someone else no longer wants. They also offer guidance for people who want to set up swap shops in their local communities.

"We're trying to provide an accessible and affordable way for people to exchange their clothes. You can come in here with up to five items and swap them for a new wardrobe for just €6," founder Mary Fleming said.
