The chair of the Oireachtas Media Committee Alan Kelly has received copies of correspondence between the Arts Council and the Department of Arts and Media in relation to the €6.7m failed IT system.

Mr Kelly received the correspondence on foot of discussions with members of the Arts Council during the Media Committee session on Wednesday 11 June.

The newly titled Department of Culture (formerly the Department of Arts and Media) also appeared at that Media Committee session to address further questions in relation to the loss of €6.7m on a failed IT system.

During those discussions, the outgoing director of the Arts Council Maureen Kennelly said: "We have had just short of 60 pieces of correspondence in relation [to] the IT project with the department on this."

She said that she was in communication with the department throughout the process.

Mr Kelly said that he would follow up on that correspondence, and this afternoon he said he had received the correspondence and will be discussing and reviewing it with his colleagues on the Media Committee in the coming days.

The Minister for Culture Patrick O'Donovan is due to appear in front of the Media Committee on 2 July.
