Out & Proud: Hopes for inter-generational queer housing collective in Dublin

Out & Proud is back on RTÉ Radio 1 for a second season and this time presenter Trevor Keegan is discussing key moments and milestones in life through the LGBTQI+ experience.

Older members of the LGBTQIA+ community are among the first generation to have lived the whole of their adulthood out and proud.

As they experience their older years, the one-size-fits-all nature of care models, supported living and social outlets, don't necessarily work for them.

In this episode, Trevor is joined by Richie Keane from Aisteach Queer Housing Co-Op, James O’Hagan from LGBT Ireland, activist Ailbhe Smyth, and history-maker Dr. Lydia Foy.

Together, they chat about plans for an inter-generational queer housing collective, the legacy of activism in the community, the joy of seeing a new generation flourish and how essential inclusivity is in later life.

Listen to Out & Proud, Tuesday nights at 10pm on RTÉ Radio 1 and the RTÉ Radio app or anytime, wherever you get your podcasts.
