Ecolution is the place where young people get to air their views on the climate crisis, and now it's time to hear from some of these new voices who are making noise on this massive issue.
Our second YouTube panel, inspired by the topics on the podcast, features representatives from across the environmental youth spectrum in Ireland joining our host Evie - Dana and David from Green Schools Ireland, Arjun from EcoUNESCO and Mara from the Irish Schools' Sustainability Network (ISSN).
Subscribe to the Ecolution Podcast here, and watch the YouTube discussion panels on RTÉ Kids YouTube.
Over the rest of the season, we will discuss rising sea levels, our food, marine protection, climate anxiety and a whole lot more. Here, we meet a new set of young activists who tell us what they think is going on. We start off with Rising Sea Levels - watch it up top now.
To help us get to know them we asked them 1 question: Why is it important young people's voices are heard when it comes to the Climate Crisis?
Arjun (16) lives in Dublin and represents EcoUNESCO. He recently had the honour of winning the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) 2025 in the Social and Behavioural Science category.
Arjun says: "I believe that young people are the epitome of creativity, and we have the power to change the world. If we came together with all of that talent to collaborate, there's nothing stopping us."
Dana (17) lives in Donegal. Last year she was awarded a Climate Ambassador Outstanding Achievement Award, for among other things having created an online Climate Zine which provided a space for climate conversations through poetry, prose and art. She also took part in the National Youth Assembly on Climate - a consultation to include young people's views in climate policy.
Dana says: "Young people are going to be the ones to inherit the world in the future so it's important we keep the world safe for all of us.
Mara is 18 and from Wexford. She has been a part of the nationwide Irish Schools Sustainability Network for the last three years.
Mara says: "We are the future of decision making, of laws. We need new ideas and open-mindedness, and I think young people can bring that."
David (14) from Co Mayo was one of just 100 young people chosen to take part in the pioneering Children and Young People’s Assembly on Biodiversity Loss in 2022. He went to Leinster House in 2023 to present their findings to the Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action.
David says: "It's our planet, it's our future. We’re going to be here longer than you will be. It’s our life that we’ll be living. And we don’t want a life where there’s more droughts, more storms, more famines and simply, a world that’s hard to live in."
The new panel launches today and is part of Ecolution. The long-running podcast is heading for its 100th episode soon!
