Who is the new RTÉ Weather presenter?!

We had a TV debut on news2day this week, as we introduced a new RTÉ Weather presenter. Niall Kavanagh from Co Kildare came up to HQ to spread the good news - the sunny spell is here to stay!

Niall was the winner of the news2day Weather Competition, and he stepped in, for one day only, to give the forecast on the show. Press play up top to see him in action.

He says: "It was really cool to do the weather. It was great to see behind the scenes, things like the green screen, just to understand how it all works. I had to learn how to use the clicker, work on the slides and all the other things that you don't see on TV. It was hard because you can't actually see what you are pointing to. It's not easy but it was fun."

Niall is only in 6th Class, so he isn't sure what he would like to do when he grows up, but he didn't rule out working in TV in the future - watch this space!

Barry from news2day and RTÉ Weather's Trevor Keegan behind the scenes with Niall.

As Niall said, it's not easy to present the weather forecast, so we had to ask for tips from an expert. Trevor Keegan was there to help Niall on the day and show him the ropes - thanks Trevor!

Once the TV business was wrapped up, Trevor showed Niall and his family more of the campus and the competition winner got to see the newsroom with Barry and the news2day team too.
